Blackfin is made by a family business that has been producing eyewear in the Italian Dolomites since 1971, and working exclusively in titanium since 1991. Every frame is designed, machined, finished and quality-checked in the same workshop in Taibon Agordino. It's a philosophy we call neomadeinitaly: not just made in Italy, but made in one place, by the people who have spent their working lives perfecting it.
The material is the starting point. We use the purest titanium available, sourced from Japan. It's as tough as steel but 40% lighter, twice as strong as aluminium, and entirely free of nickel and other heavy metals, so it won't irritate even the most sensitive skin.
Fronts are milled from a single solid block of titanium rather than assembled from parts, which removes most of the welds and the weak points that would othewise exist. Temples are beta-titanium, just half a millimetre thick, so they flex with the face instead of gripping it. Our patented Swordfish temple tips let you adjust temple length by hand in seconds, giving a genuinely personal fit without tools or heat.
Colour is applied using our own Nano-Plating technology, an atomic deposition process that gives a depth conventional plating can't reach, and every frame is hand finished and laser-engraved with its own unique serial number.
